The International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis presented the Robert P. Grant Medal to Denisa D. Wagner, PhD, professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.
The medal, the society’s highest award, recognizes an individual for their outstanding service or accomplishment, as well as their promotion of the society’s goals.
Wagner, a former member of the ISTH Council, is credited with defining the cell biology of von Willebrand factor. She also uncovered the biological importance of P-selectin, as well as the importance of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in thrombosis and sterile inflammation.
Wagner serves as a member of the Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine and the division of hematology/oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital.
