Dermatology academy president begins 1-year term
Mark G. Lebwohl, MD, professor of dermatology and chair of the department of dermatology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, took office as the new president of the American Academy of Dermatology.
He will serve until spring 2016.
“I am honored to assume this position, and will use my term to serve as an advocate for patients,” Lebwohl said in a press release. “Quality care will be the focus of my presidency.”
“Dr. Lebwohl has devoted his career to developing new dermatologic treatments as well as to treating patients,” Dennis Charney, MD, dean of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and president for academic affairs at Mount Sinai Health System, said in a press release. “He helped pioneer the use of topical agents that harness the immune system to treat precancerous skin lesions and skin cancers; the use of topical calcineurin inhibitors for psoriasis; and many targeted biologic therapies for psoriasis, vitiligo and other diseases.”
