Levine Cancer Institute appoints chief of breast medical oncology

Antoinette R. Tan, MD, MHSc, has joined Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Cancer Institute as its chief of breast medical oncology and co-director of the phase 1 program.

Tan also will serve as chief of medical oncology at Carolinas HealthCare System’s Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville location.

Tan previously served as director of phase 1 and investigational therapeutics, as well as associate professor of medicine, at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Her research is focused on the development of novel therapeutics for breast cancer. She received the NCI Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award in 2012. She also has served on multiple ASCO committees, and served as chair of the ASCO Cancer Education Committee from 2012-2013.
