Thoracic surgeon joins Cancer Treatment Centers of America

Jonathan Kiev, MD, FACS, joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center as a thoracic surgeon specializing in advanced and minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat cancers of the lung.

“We’re happy to welcome Dr. Kiev to our multidisciplinary thoracic oncology team,” Scott Jones, CEO and president of CTCA at Midwestern, said in a press release. “His extraordinary background and innovative, specialized skill in treating cancer with advanced surgery will help to provide cutting-edge treatment to our patients in their fight against cancer.”

As part of the CTCA team, Kiev will consult with medical oncologists and patients on surgical treatment options for lung cancer as well as other cancers that have spread to the lungs. Kiev will also perform surgery to treat esophageal cancer and tumors involving mediastinal structures.

“I’m incredibly honored to be a part of the CTCA team and to have the opportunity to contribute to the patient-centric atmosphere,” said Kiev. “In treating cancer, it is crucial to take the time to listen to patients and encourage them to learn as much as they can about their disease and treatments.”

Kiev is a member of several professional associations, including the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
