This week's cancer-related news
Well, dear readers, I am back on the inpatient service and my two children came down with chicken pox this week, so things are a bit hectic. So, I offer you more cancer related potpourri from around the web:
- Absence of microRNA-101 (miR-101) in tumors may predict for aggressive tumors via over-production of EZH2.
- Why does The Valley of Death between a new biomedical discovery and a real treatment for patients exist? (As a type 1 diabetic I ask myself this question all the time as well.)
- Confronting racial and ethnic barriers between patients and doctors.
- Don't tell patients they have "a good cancer."
- ICD-10 looks to be a doozy. From this blog post, "It's estimated that primary care doctors will have to see an extra 2.3 patients per day to offset the costs of implementing the system." Yipes.
- The jury is still out on CT screening for lung cancer.
Have a good weekend you guys. I'll be quarantined with two kids, Dora the Explorer and Candy Land!
