Discussing health care reform legislation
I haven't really taken on the topic of health care reform legislation in my blog entries yet, because it is an immense topic of which I am no expert (when has that stopped me before, some may ask) and also because I don't feel I can be objective about it. But as the debates in the House and Senate heat up, I have come across some interesting blogs and articles which you may find informative. I welcome your discussion of the bills especially as they influence oncologists — this is not an area well covered from what I have seen yet.
- "Controlling health costs could require dramatic changes for doctors and patients" (Read the article; he really does mean "dramatic.")
- And a similar post on the same NEJM article from KevinMD.com, also focusing on patient sacrifice.
- Will actuarial decisions ever really be made in the rationing of health care in the United States as is done in the United Kingdom?
- A hospitalist's take on explaining rising health care costs, via anecdotes (we love those!)
- Two rules by which to judge a health care reform bill (the highlights — it's about universal coverage and cost containment, stupid.)
