VIDEO: Unmet needs in psoriasis care

In this Healio exclusive video, Lawrence F. Eichenfield, MD, chief of pediatric and adolescent dermatology at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, discusses areas of unmet need in the field of psoriasis.

“In the adult space, there are these other medicines that have come through that we don’t yet have an ‘and’ for pediatric psoriasis,” Eichenfield, who is also vice chair of the department of dermatology at University of California, San Diego, and a member of the Healio Dermatology Peer Perspective Board, told Healio.

Eichenfield also pointed out “things that we’re missing,” in the field, including how patients diagnosed with other conditions may have had underlying psoriasis or other psoriatic disease.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have a biomarker to separate that out,” he said. “Hopefully, we will in the future.”
