UCB has announced the launch of Make HStory, an educational campaign that provides resources on hidradenitis suppurativa to dermatologists as well as patients living with the disease, according to a press release.
Across studied countries, approximately 1% of the population is affected by HS with most enduring the disease for 10 years before being diagnosed. According to the release, many patients experience three misdiagnoses before receiving their HS diagnosis, at which point the disease has progressed to a severe level.
In an effort to combat the misunderstanding and patient-defeat surrounding HS, UCB created Make HStory.
“My hope for Make HStory is that it can empower people who have lived with HS in silence or without answers to seek out the support they may need and visit a dermatologist to discuss the optimal care plan,” Brittany Blair, U.S. immunology patient strategy lead at UCB, said in the release.
Created in partnership with individuals living with HS and their dermatologists, the campaign offers patient stories, informational videos and interactive tools/resources for patients or dermatologists looking for HS support.
“My UCB colleagues and I are incredibly grateful to those who have already shared their HS journeys and stories as part of the Make HStory campaign,” Blair said. “Their own experiences and personal histories are what will provide hope and a path forward for so many others."
