The Society for Pediatric Dermatology has named Sheilagh Maguiness, MD, its 2023-2024 president, according to a press release.

Maguiness will be replacing Robert Sidbury, MD, MPH, the 2022-2023 society president,

and will work alongside the executive committee to raise awareness of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and help pediatric patients and dermatologists worldwide.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to lead this incredible organization, working alongside such esteemed industry professionals to advance the field of pediatric dermatology. Through my years of being an SPD member, it has been inspiring to see firsthand the dedication of its members, and the impact we have had on industry,” Maguiness said in the release. “I look forward to stepping into my new role as president, and fully embrace the opportunity to champion even greater success of this organization.”

Maguiness is an associate professor of dermatology and pediatrics at University of Minnesota, where she also serves as the director for pediatric dermatology and director of the UMMCH Vascular Anomalies Center.

Maguiness is a member of numerous medical societies and is an elected member of the section of dermatology executive committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics. In her new role as Society for Pediatric Dermatology president, Maguiness brings with her an expertise in infantile hemangiomas, vascular anomalies, atopic dermatitis and genetic/inflammatory skin diseases.
