In addition to top-tier educational opportunities, South Beach Symposium will deliver valuable networking events and a deeper understanding of the industry at its 21st annual meeting in Miami Beach.

From Feb. 9 to 12, South Beach Symposium (SBS) is hosting its conference on medical and aesthetic dermatology — a combination that highlights the symbiotic nature of the specialties.

In addition to top-tier educational opportunities, South Beach Symposium promises to deliver valuable networking events and a deeper understanding of the industry at its 21st annual meeting in Miami Beach.

“In my opinion, this meeting is very unique compared to other meetings because it covers advances in both medical and aesthetic dermatology,” Christopher G. Bunick, MD, PhD, associate professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine and SBS senior planning committee member, told Healio.

“A lot of times when patients come in, they have a medical problem,” Bunick continued. “But once that medical problem resolves, there may be a cosmetic problem or an aesthetic problem that also needs to be addressed, and that’s what this meeting does well.”

SBS is known for its highly sought-after, expert faculty that specializes in the hottest topics in dermatology including cutaneous oncology, anti-aging and genomics. The conference will also present the newest updates in legal practices and box warnings, especially pertaining to Janus kinase inhibitors as well as other classes of medication.

Not only does SBS set itself apart from other meetings by fusing various specialties, but it also provides a unique opportunity for networking.

“South Beach Symposium is a high value meeting because of the intimacy of the learning experience and the ability to talk to lecturers,” Bunick continued. “It is a meeting that is small and intimate enough that you can have really valuable networking and learning interactions that you may not get at meetings that are much larger.”

The planning committee has structured this year’s meeting to incorporate fun and interactive breaks for attendees that enhance the networking experience, including sunrise yoga, salsa dancing and dessert socials.

“I’m really excited when I look at the program because it looks fun,” Bunick said. “The learning looks fun, the social events look fun, the city looks fun.”

With its education and networking events, SBS is shaping up to be a premiere conference. In addition to quality content, the faculty is diving deeper into the “science behind all this innovation” and incorporating it into the educational sessions, according to Bunick.

“I think people will walk away with that deeper understanding of not just what we’re saying, but why we’re saying it, and how it came to,” Bunick said. “And that’s what I really think the strength of this meeting is.”
