Mobile device approved for fast ECG reading and QTc interval measurement
AliveCor announced it received FDA 510(k) clearance for its mobile, handheld ECG device for the calculation of a patient’s QTc interval.
According to a company press release, the device (KardiaMobile 6L) is the first cleared by the FDA for measurement of the QTc interval.

With this clearance, physicians using the device can obtain an ECG in approximately 30 seconds, which they can use to manually measure their patients’ QT interval, the company stated in the release.
Obtaining an ECG with the device can be done in-office or anywhere remotely by the patient, according to the release.
“Patient safety is paramount, and this is why we are proud to offer physicians the ability to monitor QTc through the convenience and quality of our device,” Priya Abani, CEO of AliveCor, said in the release. “It is our hope that this important FDA clearance will help health care professionals identify and save patients from this potentially life-threatening condition.”
