The Cardiometabolic Health Congress announced the launch of a live and archived CME/CE six-part specialty series.
The series will take a closer look at cardiometabolic topics that include multidisciplinary approaches to care, pediatrics, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis/nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, nutrition, reproductive diseases and sleep disorders, according to a press release. It is in addition to the 15th Cardiometabolic Health Congress, taking place Oct. 21-24 as an entirely virtual event.
The first installment, “Who Best to Stem the Cardiometabolic Tsunami: Cardiology, Endocrinology, and Primary Care,” will take place Nov. 19-20 and be chaired by Cardiology Today Editorial Board Member Keith C. Ferdinand, MD, FACC, FAHA, FASPC, Gerald S. Berenson Chair in Preventative Cardiology and professor of medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine. According to the release, this event will review the latest clinical advances in diabetes, cardiology and nephrology, and examine the ways in which clinicians can effectively tackle these interconnected issues.
The second installment, taking place Dec. 3-4, will address cardiometabolic health in pediatrics. This session will address cardiometabolic disease risk in pediatric patients and offer practical strategies for clinicians to improve cardiometabolic health in this population.
The third installment, occurring Jan. 8-9, 2021, will take a closer look at cardiometabolic health and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis/nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, according to the release. Chaired by Christos S. Mantzoros, MD, DSc, director of the human nutrition unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, this session will examine new developments and research into the pathophysiology of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis/nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, its risk factors and more.
The fourth session, which will take place on Feb. 26, 2021, will take a closer look at cardiometabolic health and reproductive diseases. This session, led by Pam R. Taub, MD, FACC, associate professor of medicine in the division of cardiovascular medicine at the University of California, will review how cardiometabolic risk factors, in addition to risk factors common among women of reproductive age, influence women's cardiometabolic health.
Part five of the series, to be held March 4-5, 2021, will explore nutrition for the cardiometabolic patient. This session will examine how clinicians can move beyond nutritional controversies to find common ground on which to develop nutritional plans for these patients.
The sixth and final installment, taking place on March 27, 2021, will take a closer look at cardiometabolic health and sleep disorders and examine the impact lifestyle behaviors, particularly sleep, have on cardiometabolic health. Participants will also be presented with practical approaches for screening, referral or treatment, according to the release.
