SAN DIEGO — In this video exclusive, Ajay Kirtane, MD, SM, provides insight on the COAPT trial, the 30th anniversary of TCT and other highlights from TCT.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the TCT meeting, which began with a few hundred people in Washington, D.C., and has since expanded greatly, in terms of attendance and excitement, Kirtane, who is a co-director of TCT and also a physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, told Cardiology Today’s Intervention. Also this year, TCT featured Interactive Training Workshops that offered attendees the opportunity for hand-on learning with comprehensive, interactive areas and workshops that focused on specific areas of interventional cardiology, from imaging to structural to endovascular and more.

Kirtane also highlights some of the late-breaking research presented at TCT 2018, including COAPT, a carefully conducted, rigorous trial, which showed benefit of the MitraClip (Abbott) in patients with HF and mitral regurgitation.
