The American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, taking place in Anaheim from Nov. 12 to Nov. 16, will feature the unveiling of the new AHA/American College of Cardiology hypertension guidelines, 33 late-breaking clinical trials, as well as numerous additional presentations.

Late-breaking trials

The late-breaking clinical trials will be spread across seven sessions with the following themes:

• CABG and EP peri-procedural dilemmas;

• Late-breaking science in prevention;

• Latest insights into hypertension management;

• Sweet spot in cardiometabolic care;

• New insights into the risks, benefits and costs of antithrombotic therapy;

• Evaluating quality improvement and patient-centered care interventions; and

• Innovative therapies and novel applications.

Hypertension guideline sessions

In addition to the late-breaking clinical trials, the AHA will also be presenting the highly anticipated 2017 Hypertension Clinical Practice Guidelines.

There will be four moderated sessions addressing target BP, clinical practice guidelines for BP management, the guidelines on hypertension, as well as results from three hypertension trials.

Additional submissions

The meeting will offer a wide range of presentations, such as a 3-day Resuscitation Science Symposium, which gives physicians and researchers the opportunity to discuss recent advances in resuscitation; and Frontiers in Science presentations, which address new developments in areas such as arrhythmia research, stem cell treatments, thrombosis, vascular disease and more.
