Royal Philips and HeartFlow Inc. have entered into a collaborative agreement to improve access to diagnostic and planning tools for interventional cardiologists treating individuals with CAD, according to a press release.

Under the agreement, Philips will promote HeartFlow FFRCT Analysis, a noninvasive technology that provides a digital 3-D model of a patient’s coronary arteries, in conjunction with its coronary fractional flow reserve (FFR), instant wave-free ratio (iFR) and IVUS catheters.

“Our commitment is to transform the patient experience and identify pathways that are personalized, high quality and at a lower price point,” Christopher Barys, business leader of image-guided therapy devices for Philips. “To address the burden that CAD is placing on healthcare systems and to transform the patient experience, hospitals are focused on adopting new technology that can improve the diagnosis and care of these patients while reducing unnecessary invasive procedures.”

The collaboration will initially focus in the U.S., but the companies expect it to expand to other countries in the near future, according to the release.

Philips and HeartFlow have also agreed to co-develop a cath lab X-ray image-derived FFR or iFR solution to improve diagnosis and treatment of CAD, the companies stated in the release.
