AHA installs CPR training kiosks at three US airports
The American Heart Association announced it has established hands-only CPR training kiosks at three U.S. airports to help travelers learn to save lives.
Hands-only CPR has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR for cardiac arrest that occurs in the public and can double or triple a person’s chance of survival, according to the release.
The kiosks feature an informational and instructional video, a rubber torso for practice with feedback on pressure and proper hand placement and a 30-second test.
“Our nation’s airports have proven to be a great way to extend our educational campaign to train people on the lifesaving skill of hands-only CPR and, help meet the [AHA’s] goal to double bystander response by 2020,” Craig Samitt, MD, chief clinical officer at Anthem Inc. “By expanding the availability of the training kiosks, we’re hopeful that more people will feel confident to administer hands-only CPR on a stranger or someone they love.”
The kiosks have been added to Cleveland Hopkins International airport, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International airport and Orlando International airport.
In 2016, kiosks were placed in O’Hare International airport, Indianapolis International airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport and Baltimore-Washington International airport.
