VIDEO: International perspectives on appropriate testing shared at ACC.17
WASHINGTON — In this Cardiology Today video perspective, American College of Cardiology Vice President C. Michael Valentine, MD, discusses the importance of the international collaborations that took place at the ACC Scientific Session.
“I've had the honor of co-chairing many different sessions which involve cardiologists from different parts of the world including Europe, Eastern Europe [and] Asia,” Valentine said. “What I've found is that all around the world, people are interested in giving the best patient care at the right time and [with] the appropriate testing.”
According to Valentine, an interventional cardiologist at Stroobants Cardiovascular Center, Centra Health, Lynchburg, Virginia, perhaps the most important among the lessons learned from international colleagues is the price of health care and the importance of choosing the right testing for the best outcomes for patients.
“We’ve been very impressed with how we are all willing to work together for the best patient care, higher quality, lower cost and more value — not just in the U.S., but around the world,” Valentine said.
