Medtronic announced that the FDA cleared for marketing an angled support catheter for use in procedures in the peripheral vascular system.

The catheter (TrailBlazer, Medtronic) is for use in endovascular procedures to treat patients with complex peripheral artery disease, the company stated in a press release.

The purpose of the catheter, which is available in sizes of 0.014 in, 0.018 in or 0.035 in, is to support guidewire during the process of accessing peripheral arteries, and to facilitate delivery of diagnostic agents and solutions, according to the release.

The catheter also has three radiopaque marker bands and a radiopaque shaft to enhance visibility, according to the release.
