CHICAGO — B. Hadley Wilson, MD, FACC, of the Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, discusses the positive results on shared decision-making in the setting of angina in the ED.

Calling the Chest Pain Choice trial “very interesting,” he highlights the importance of patients and clinicians working together to determine a path for subsequent care and the promise of the decision aid, detailing main findings.

“Involving patients with this decision tree … and their care can actually result safely in less utilization of resources, less hospitalization for the patient and overall can be done very safely,” Hadley said.
