SAN DIEGO — In this video, Sahil Parikh, MD, an interventional cardiologist at University Hospital Case Medical Center in Cleveland, offers his perspective on program highlights and the overarching themes addressed at the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Scientific Sessions.

Parikh said an underlying theme of the meeting was the emphasis on team-based care. In particular, he highlighted a boot-camp session which drew together cath lab directors, CV professionals, physicians and industry partners to discuss the challenges of clinical practice, including facility management and strategies to address both clinical and fiscal concerns.

He added that the SCAI Scientific Sessions allow for a confluence of different specialties, with structural heart disease specialists interacting and exchanging ideas with pediatric cardiologists, and so on. Parikh also recognized a stronger focus on case-based education, which he said has been of particular interest to practitioners and allows for a dialogue to form around the cases presented about the issues clinicians deal with every day.
