The American Society of Hypertension announced the launch of its Designated Hypertension Centers program to assist patients with hypertension.

The Hypertension Practice Center designation will be awarded to centers managed by an American Society of Hypertension (ASH) Designated Specialist in Clinical Hypertension that devote more than 50% of the practice to treating patients with hypertension and related disorders and are staffed by personnel certified in recording BP and maintaining equipment for both the center and self-monitoring for patients. Centers that meet the above criteria, are located in academic medical centers or large multispecialty clinics and are organized as a hypertension center by the parent organization may be designated as a Comprehensive Hypertension Center.

To become a designated ASH Hypertension Center, practices must submit an application, meet the above criteria, and pass an on-site center review and evaluation by a team of hypertension experts.
