ASNC launches CV nuclear imaging data registry

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology announced that it has launched ImageGuide, a registry for CV nuclear imaging data.

The registry, developed in a partnership with FIGMD Inc., is the first noninvasive cardiac imaging registry in the United States, according to a press release. It is intended to improve laboratory efficiency, optimize patient radiation exposure, minimize costs and improve patient care and the quality of nuclear cardiac studies, according to a press release. ImageGuide is also designed to aid in the measuring and benchmarking of CV imaging, as well as in the dissemination of best practices at the laboratory and provider levels.

ASNC president Gordon DePuey, MD, ASNC president, said in the release that the registry is currently enrolling select test sites for validation purposes. Laboratories participating in the registry may be able to satisfy regulatory requirements from Medicare and third-party payers in order to maximize reimbursement, as well as demonstrate adherence to appropriate use criteria, according to the release.

“ImageGuide comprehensively addresses the entire imaging process, from indications and appropriateness, type of study performed and radiation dosimetry, reporting results and compliance with major quality indicators,” Peter L. Tilkemeier, MD, chair of the registry oversight committee, said in the release.
