In this video, Janet Dunn, DNP, RN, CRNP, ACNP-BC, of Abington Health Center – Warminster, Hospice and Palliative Care, Warminster, Penn., outlines highlights from the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses Annual Conference in Los Angeles.

Dunn cited evidence presented by Nancy Albert, PhD, of the Cleveland Clinic, about sodium intake in patients with HF, and the importance of finding a balance between sodium restriction and allowance in this patient population, as a highlight from the conference. She also stressed the importance of palliative care for patients with HF and predicted an increase in its use in the future, along with increased use of mechanical circulatory support.
