The American College of Cardiology, in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association, American College of Physicians and Joslin Diabetes Center, announced the launch of the first clinical registry developed to track and improve the quality of diabetes and cardiometabolic care.

The purpose of the Diabetes Collaborative Registry is to allow for longitudinal study of diabetes presentation, progression, management and outcomes across primary care, specialty care and multidisciplinary care, according to information from the ACC.

Patients from the ACC’s PINNACLE registry, the largest ambulatory CV registry in the United States, will be incorporated in the Diabetes Collaborative Registry. The registry will utilize the PINNACLE technology platform to gather data from electronic medical records from participating physicians and providers, according to the ACC.

The registry will allow physicians to track performance measures, compare performance, target quality improvement areas, access a central repository of diabetes data and more, according to the ACC.

The registry is supported by AstraZeneca.
