Biotronik announced that the FDA has approved Ilesto DX, a next-generation technology platform for its implantable cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators.

Ilesto DX offers the benefits of the DX System in a thinner and smaller device than previous-generation technologies. The electromechanical platform enables the devices to be 15% smaller and have 29% fewer components than previous-generation devices. In addition, the defibrillator system is equipped to provide full atrial diagnostic information with just one defibrillator lead, instead of two, according to a company press release.
