“The work being done at CCHMC will set the tone for a new collaborative paradigm melding the worlds of pediatric and adult HF, and will profoundly affect the way we view and treat HF in the not too distant future,” Frank Smart, MD, chairman of the Colloquium, said in a release.

The institute was founded in 2008. The infrastructure in place now includes the innovative Advance Cardiomyopathy/Heart Failure Clinic, which serves more than 600 patients with cardiomyopathies per year. The clinic uses a combination of CV genetics and genetic counseling, working in tandem to diagnose and treat cardiomyopathy and complex forms of heart muscle disease. It also utilizes a multidisciplinary team.
