Activity Description
Ethiodized oil has become a versatile agent in various medical fields, notably in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), women's health, and lymphatic medicine. In HCC, ethiodized oil aids in both imaging and therapy, allowing for precise tumor localization and facilitating chemoembolization. The field of women's health benefits from ethiodized oil in hysterosalpingography, a crucial diagnostic method for evaluating female infertility. Personalized treatment based on individual patient characteristics is emphasized in women's health, and ongoing research explores potential applications beyond infertility. In lymphatic medicine, ethiodized oil–based lymphangiography has shown therapeutic benefits in treating lymphatic disorders, evolving from conventional modalities to advanced imaging techniques. In this CE activity, expert faculty describe advancements in the use of ethiodized oil in HCC imaging and treatment, assess the latest radiological interventions using the oil in women's health, and evaluate its current and future applications in lymphography.
Target Audience
The intended audience for this activity is radiologists, obstetrician/gynecologists, oncologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals who use ethiodized oil as a diagnostic and/or therapeutic in the areas of oncology, women's health, and lymphography.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Describe advances in the use of ethiodized oil in hepatocellular carcinoma imaging and treatment.
- Assess the latest radiological interventions using ethiodized oil in women's health.
- Evaluate current and future applications of the use of ethiodized oil in lymphography.
