Activity Description

In this case-based Curbside Consult, Drs. Russell and Toscano discuss the diagnosis and treatment of high-risk groups for influenza complications including the efficacy and safety of available antiviral options for flu in high-risk adults.


Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is emergency medicine physicians, family medicine physicians, general practice physicians, internists, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, and physician associates in these specialties, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with or at risk for influenza.


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Characterize evidence-based techniques that allow for timely differential diagnosis of influenza.
  • Select the best-suited influenza antiviral treatment or prophylactic based on efficacy, safety, healthcare resource utilization, and patient preference data.
  • Diagram interprofessional strategies that enhance the outcomes for patients with influenza, including treatment coordination and patient education.
