Uterine Myomectomy

Women who underwent radiofrequency ablation for uterine fibroids had similar rates of full-term pregnancy, vaginal delivery and miscarriage as observed with myomectomy, researchers reported in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Use of oxytocin or tranexamic acid with ethamsylate was not associated with significant reductions in intraoperative blood loss vs. placebo among women undergoing abdominal myomectomy, according to findings published in BMC Women’s Health.

Up to 68% of women, most of them younger than 50 years, may have fibroid tumors, which impact the physical, social and professional lives of many of these women, researchers wrote in the Journal of Women’s Health.
