There was no difference in hospital length of stay among patients with secondary spontaneous pneumothorax who received ambulatory care with a flutter valve or standard care, according to results published in the European Respiratory Journal.

The prevalence and incidence of secondary spontaneous pneumothorax among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema is increased in Black adults and men, researchers reported at the virtual CHEST Annual Meeting.

New data published in The New England Journal of Medicine indicates that conservative management of spontaneous pneumothorax may be noninferior to an interventional approach in healthy, young patients.
