Severe Thrombocytopenia

SAN DIEGO — Lower platelet count was identified as a significant predictor for ruxolitinib-induced moderate or severe thrombocytopenia in patients with myelofibrosis, according to research presented at ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition.

The presence of moderate to severe thrombocytopenia before PCI is associated with increased risk for in-hospital mortality and shorter time to repeat revascularization compared with no or mild thrombocytopenia, researchers reported.

The FDA granted priority review to pacritinib for treatment of patients with myelofibrosis with severe thrombocytopenia, according to the agent’s manufacturer.
