CHICAGO — Adults who received bystander CPR within the first few minutes of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest were much more likely to survive and have better brain function than those who did not, researchers reported.

Semaglutide cut the risk for worsening heart failure and CV death for adults with HF with preserved ejection fraction, according to data presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress and simultaneously published in The Lancet.

For patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, bystander CPR improved rates of survival to hospital discharge, but the degree varied by race and sex, researchers reported in Circulation.

In patients with obesity-driven heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, semaglutide 2.4 mg was associated with more improvement in NYHA functional class compared with placebo, according to new data from the STEP-HFpEF trials.
