Infants conceived after assisted reproductive technology had a 36% greater risk for being born with a major heart defect, results from a large cohort study published in the European Heart Journal showed.

Conception via assisted reproductive technology appeared associated with increased risk for childhood cancers compared with natural conception or subfertility and nonassisted reproductive technology conception methods, study results showed.

The cumulative live birth rate for women who returned to assisted reproductive technology to successfully conceive once again was between 50.5% and 88.1%, researchers reported in Human Reproduction.
