Presbyopia-Correcting Drop

BOSTON – A wide range of eye drops are being developed to manage presbyopia, Clark Chang, OD, said here at the American Academy of Optometry meeting.

Allergan, an AbbVie company, announced the FDA approval of the eye drop, Vuity, for the treatment of presbyopia.

AGN-190584 met the FDA’s high bar for safety and efficacy endpoints in the phase 3 GEMINI study.

NEW YORK — Presbyopia-correcting drops may be a good choice for patients who previously underwent corneal refractive surgery and can act as a temporizing measure until further surgery becomes necessary, according to a speaker here.

By the end of 2021, we will likely see FDA approval of the first presbyopia-reversing eye drops here in the United States. Media advertising is likely to draw much public interest to our clinics. Adding to my 2019 thoughts about these medications, I’d like to make four predictions about their adoption:
