Patient-reported outcome measures with Skindex may yield more comprehensive data
Relying primarily on patient global assessments falls short in determining comprehensive disease severity, but by adding the Skindex instrument or other measures, clinicians may obtain a better evaluation of patient quality of life, according to a panel of stakeholders on behalf of the International Dermatology Outcome Measures and the American Academy of Dermatology.

CHICAGO — At the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting, Judith F. Baumhauer, MD, discussed a study that looked at whether physical therapy produced value for nonoperatively managed foot and ankle patients. She said patient-reported outcomes measures information system (PROMIS) scales showed physical therapy was beneficial for these patients.

BOSTON — Patients who underwent arthroscopic shoulder stabilization with knotless anchors had outcomes similar to patients who had traditional knotted anchors, according to a presentation at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Annual Meeting. In addition, investigators found all-suture-based anchors may be correlated with lower redislocation rates.
