In a study of patients with no or mild osteoarthritis who underwent arthroscopic partial meniscectomy, investigators found no clinically meaningful differences in patient satisfaction or clinical outcomes between patients who had traumatic vs. degenerative tears.

CHICAGO — Early results of lateral total ankle replacement compared with anterior total ankle replacement showed patients who underwent the lateral approach had a greater risk of deep infection requiring reoperation and inferior SF-36 scores 1 year after surgery. However, there were no significant differences between the groups regarding ankle osteoarthritis and ankle arthritis scores.

Patients who underwent arthroscopic partial meniscectomy had a greater predisposition to osteoarthritis in the tibiofemoral and patellofemoral compartments if they were obese, overweight or had a degenerative tear, according to published results.
