SAN ANTONIO — The Association of PAs in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology gathered leaders in their respective fields to educate advanced providers at its 16th Annual Allergy, Asthma & Immunology CME Conference.

SAN ANTONIO — Career development as well as continuing education and connections are among the goals of the Association of PAs in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, according to incoming president Heather O’Connell, PA-C.

Nurse practitioners were no more likely than primary care physicians to prescribe inappropriately to older patients, a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine showed.

The proportion of health care visits delivered by physician assistants or nurse practitioners is rapidly increasing and now accounts for one in every four visits, according to the results of research published in The BMJ.

Atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease that affects a significant population worldwide. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, it occurs most frequently in children but also impacts as many as 16.5 million adults.

The POCN has launched its Atopic Dermatitis Center of Excellence, a free online resource center for nurse practitioners and physician associates working in the atopic dermatitis field, according to a press release.

PARK CITY, Utah — As asthma and allergy treatment evolves, physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners will work together to ensure effective care, according to Andrew Liu, MD, FAAAAI, of Children’s Hospital Colorado.

As demand for allergy and asthma care grows, physician assistants now have a greater role in providing that treatment. The Association of PAs in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology aims to support these professionals with its upcoming conference.

The Association of PAs in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology will host its 15th Annual CME Conference at The Chateaux Deer Valley in Park City, Utah, from July 28 to July 30.
