BOSTON — Health care system expenditures and patient satisfaction can be improved with the addition of nerve interventions to upper extremity amputations, according to a presenter.

Worse glucose status and higher glycemia levels, even at the prediabetes stage, are associated with corneal nerve damage, according to findings presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes annual meeting.

Microneurolysis aids recovery of strength in patients with persistent anterior interosseous nerve syndrome and hourglass constrictions, leading researchers to say the constrictions may represent therapeutic targets, a presenter said.
