When Bette Davis said, “Old age ain’t for sissies,” she might have been referring to the challenge of correcting presbyopia.

Presbyopia is the second most common refractive error in the United States, with about 128 million of 335 million Americans, or 38% of the population, being presbyopic. Myopia today is slightly higher at 42% of the population.

When patients come to my office for comprehensive eye exams, common questions, especially for those who are in the early stages of presbyopia, include, “Why am I losing vision?” and, more importantly, “How can this be treated?”
