A two-drug regimen of dolutegravir plus lamivudine remained noninferior to a three-drug regimen in treatment-naive adults with HIV, according to results from the GEMINI 1 and 2 studies.

The FDA approved a supplemental new drug application to expand the use of Pifeltro and Delstrigo to include the treatment of patients who are virologically suppressed on a stable ART regimen with no history of treatment failure, Merck announced.

Findings from two phase 3 trials published in The New England Journal of Medicine demonstrated that dolutegravir-based treatment for HIV is noninferior to efavirenz-based regimens, although dolutegravir was associated with excessive weight gain in both studies.
