BOSTON — Unionization may offer physicians advantages beyond improved salaries, and it may benefit patients as well, according to a presentation at the CHEST Annual Meeting.

Recent efforts from major residency and fellowship programs in the United States have sparked discussion about health care workers unionizing.

Health care workers who were unionized in 2009 to 2021 earned better pay and benefits than those who were not, according to researchers. Despite this, rates of labor unionization were low.
