A firm specializing in brain-computer interface has received a U.S. patent for its Medusa Electrode, which translates specific neuromodulation connections into universal electroencephalography plugs.

CHICAGO — Active electrode placement in the right subthalamic nucleus in deep brain stimulation was associated with weight gain in patients with Parkinson’s disease, with lesser gain reported with medially placed electrodes.

The FDA classified Boston Scientific’s recall of its implantable cardioverter defibrillator subcutaneous electrode as Class I, the most serious type, after it determined use of these devices may cause serious injuries or death.
