Dravet Syndrome

Dysfunction in an important cell subtype in the brain’s neuronal network contributes to chronic symptoms in patients with Dravet syndrome, according to an expert at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Pediatric patients with epilepsy treated with pharmaceutical CBD had better seizure control than those treated with artisanal CBD, according to findings from a retrospective chart review that will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting this spring.

Today is International Epilepsy Day. According to WHO, approximately 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy, and about 70% of these individuals could live seizure-free if they were properly diagnosed and treated.
