Colon/Rectal Cancer

The American Cancer Society estimates 106,970 new cases of colon cancer and 46,050 new cases of rectal cancers in the United States in 2023, with colorectal cancer expected to result in approximately 52,550 deaths this year alone.

Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, for both men and women, and across the entire population represents the second most common cause of cancer deaths and diagnoses.

Though clinical guidelines specify that oncologists should talk with patients about the risks for treatment-induced infertility, many patients with colon and rectal cancer report they did not receive or do not remember receiving information from their health care providers, according to a presentation at ASCO21 Annual Meeting.
