CHICAGO — Initiating annual breast cancer screening at a younger age may prevent more than half of all breast cancer-related deaths among childhood cancer survivors treated with chest radiation, according to results of a comparative modeling study presented at this year’s ASCO Annual Meeting.

A low-cost, literacy-appropriate intervention with follow-up phone calls if needed increased colorectal cancer screening among an underserved, rural population in Louisiana, according to results of a two-arm randomized trial published in Cancer.

The risk for colorectal cancer is about 2.5 times higher in patients who have advanced adenomatous polyps detected during colonoscopy vs. those with no adenomas, but the risk does not appear to be increased among patients with non-advanced adenomas, according to new research published in JAMA.
