Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy

A structurally normal heart was the most common finding among athletes who experienced sudden cardiac death, but the cause and circumstance of death varied significantly by the athletes’ race, researchers reported.

Rocket Pharmaceuticals announced that the FDA has granted fast track and orphan drug designations to its adeno-associated virus-based gene therapy for the treatment of plakophilin-2-related arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy.

Cardiomyopathy and HF diagnosis were more common among individuals with certain pathogenic variants compared with those without; however, prevalence was low, between 1% and 3% overall, researchers reported.
