Permissions and Other Uses

Request permission to use a text excerpt, image, table, or graph

All publications and products on Healio.com or Journals.Healio.com are copyrighted. Copyright is a form of protection grounded in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright covers both published and unpublished works.

If you wish to reuse or copy material from a Healio.com or Journals.Healio.com publication or product, whether for commercial or educational purposes, you must submit a forma request for permission. Permission is secured only after you have received a reply from us.

Permission requests may be submitted in any of the following ways:

For content on Journals.Healio.com, click the "Request Permission" link on the page where the content resides, and you will be directed to the Copyright Clearance Center's Republication service.

Or, visit www.copyright.com and enter the title for which you are requesting permission in the "Get Permission" search box. The Republication service will generate an immediate response, and payment is made on that site.

To submit a request for Journals or Newspapers permission, e-mail publishingpermissions@wyanokegroup.com.

If you use our online form or email, we will respond to your request explaining the conditions of use for the requested material and outlining potential payment information. You are required to accept these terms and return our correspondence with the potential payment. If no payment is required, you must still accept the terms and acknowledge our correspondence. If payment is required, it can be made via credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express) or check (drawn on a US bank in US dollars). Make checks payable to SLACK Incorporated, 6900 Grove Road, Thorofare, NJ 08086, USA. Payment is nonrefundable. Please keep a copy of the terms, payment, and correspondence for your records.

Reuse my own published material in a future publication

Authors must submit a permission request each time they plan on reusing their non-open access material that was published on Healio.com or Journals.Healio.com.

Include a link to your content on my website

You may post a link on your website to the homepage or article page of any Healio.com or Journals.Healio.com content. You may NOT post any non-open access article on your website without permission.

Allowing you to post a link to Healio.com or Journals.Healio.com does not grant permission to include the Healio or SLACK Incorporated logos on your website.

Linking to a Healio.com or Journals.Healio.com page does not imply our affiliation with, sponsorship of, or endorsement of your site.

Purchase a single article copy for personal use

If you would like to purchase an electronic copy of a journal article, please follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the journal article you would like to purchase on Journals.Healio.com.
2. Underneath the title of the article, click the blue button for either the "View Full Text" or "PDF" option.
3. In the Access Content box under the abstract, click "Individual article (Electronic)" to add the article to your cart.
4. Access your cart (top right of site) to complete your transaction. After payment has been authorized, you will receive a confirmation email with the transaction details, as well as a link to the article.

NOTE: The electronic article will expire 48 hours from the time of purchase. Non-open access articles may be printed or downloaded for personal, non-commercial use. You are prohibited from copying, displaying, distributing, modifying, publishing, reproducing, storing, transmitting, creating derivative works from, or selling or licensing all or part of any content obtained from Healio.com or Journals.Healio.com.

Purchase an article reprint for distribution

We offer electronic reprints of certain material to certain customers for specific uses. Please email Sheridan Content Solutions at scsreprints@sheridan.com and provide the following information:

If the specified use of the content is permissible, a fee will be charged. Note that some uses will not be allowed.

Post an entire article on my website

You are not permitted to post any non-open access article on your website. If you have any questions, please email publishingpermissions@slackinc.com.

Post my own journal article in my institution's repository

Acceptable uses of journal articles that are not published open access are outlined in the chart below (click to enlarge). Articles that are published open access in a SLACK Incorporated journal may be shared at any time as long as the applicable Creative Commons license is observed and remains in place.
