CHICAGO — In this Healio video exclusive, Pauline M. Maki, PhD, provides three takeaways from her talk on cognition and hormone therapy during menopause at the Annual Meeting of The Menopause Society.

“Women and providers are wondering how to make decisions about how to treat one of the most common complaints in peri- and postmenopause, which is brain fog,” Maki, professor of psychiatry, psychology and obstetrics and gynecology, director of the Women’s Mental Health Research Program and senior director of research in the Center for Research on Women and Gender at the University of Illinois Chicago, told Healio. “There is a lot of confusion in the literature about whether, for example, hormone therapy is protective against it or whether it should be prescribed for it.”
