ASRM to present Lifetime Achievement Award, additional honors at annual meeting
ASRM has announced its 2022 societal award winners, including Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Robert W. Rebar, MD, according to a society press release.
“These individuals have made great contributions to ASRM and the reproductive medicine field,” Marcelle Cedars, MD, president of ASRM, said in the release. “Their dedication and passion for the work they do has helped advance our field, and we are extremely lucky to be able to honor these incredible individuals.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award honors an ASRM member who has made “exemplary contributions” to the reproduction field, according to the release.

Rebar previously worked on the faculties at the University of California, San Diego, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and the University of Cincinnati, where he served as chair of OB/GYN. He was also the executive director of ASRM for 11 years. Rebar was the founding chair of the department of OB/GYN at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
Additional recognized individuals and their awards are as follows:
- Larry I. Lipshultz, MD, who received the Kavoussi Family Outstanding Teacher Award;
- Samuel C. Pang, MD, who received the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award for Practicing Physicians;
- ASRM COVID-19 Task Force, members of which received the Suheil J. Muasher, MD, Distinguished Service Award;
- Kyle E. Orwig, PhD, who received the ASRM Distinguished Researcher Award; and
- Audrey J. Gaskins, ScD, who received the Ira and Ester Rosenwaks New Investigator Award.
The awards will be presented during the ASRM Scientific Congress & Expo in October.
