SAN DIEGO — ACOG maintains the position that abortion care is necessary and is working to support its members if the legal landscape changes.

In an interactive symposium at the ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting, leadership walked participants through its stance, how to advocate for their patients and communicate abortion needs to patients, legislators and media.

In this video, Nisha Verma, MD, MPH, ACOG Darney-Landy Fellow, explains what the organization is doing to continue abortion care throughout the United States, regardless of how the law changes.

“We know that every person deserves access to comprehensive health care and that abortion is an essential component of comprehensive reproductive health care,” she said. “Things are going to keep changing, and we need to anticipate a worst-case scenario in June and make sure we can continue to support our members and support our patients getting the health care they need, including abortion care.”
